PINK HOUSES film screening

April 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the WMA on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. for a celebration of Central Arkansas storytelling and area landmarks. We will screen Hendrix alum Jon Crawford’s short film Pink Houses. Pink Houses documents the 3,053-square-foot Victorian-era house that was owned by Robert “Bobby” Loyd and John Schenk, who were well-known activists in the gay community.

We will also screen a short video from the exhibition AV Arkansas: Citizen Storytellers entitled Nettie and the Nuns. This video short tells one Arkansan’s recollection of the Catholic school at St. Joseph’s Parish in Center Ridge, AR.

Additionally, Charlotte McCombs, the Windgate Museum of Art Film Associate, will also present her research and images of rural one-room schoolhouses in Arkansas. This is a personal project McCombs and a friend from the University of Arkansas have been compiling for a few years.
