Ceramicist Erik Ordaz Lozano’s exhibition, “Loco Planetarium: 2039,” is on view in the museum’s window galleries through December 12, 2025. Erik is an Assistant Professor of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University. His work is deeply influenced by his cultural background and interdisciplinary interests, incorporating methods that walk the line between sculpture, craft, and design thinking.

Erik sees his ceramic constructions as a sequence of movements and marks that speak to their literal journey in becoming an object. The process is as interesting to him as the end result. He purposefully leaves all traces of his interaction with the material visible. Cracks, tears, “mistakes”, even if not recognizable when looking at the whole, are present and are a visual recording of his creative process.

Playfulness and color are traces of memorable moments and his cultural background. Erik’s work is a non-linear map of personal life experiences that result in thematic narratives that can be viewed through the window of space, time, and scale.
