I’m excited! My exhibition announcement cards arrived in the mailbox today and I hope yours did too!
Fabulous new fall exhibitions open on Aug. 26 with an opening reception night on Sept. 12 from 5-7 p.m. Free and Open to All!
Hendrix professor emeritus William “Bill” Hawes’ “unpopular” sculptures (his words, not ours), the introspective photography of Paul Caponigro and David Dennard, and Bob Kinsell’s “Beautiful Lies” paintings are all coming to the WMA!

After leaving the AMFA this evening, a community calendar event was announced on NPR. Hendrix’s art alumnus Adaja Cooper was having an opening reception this evening at the Thea Foundation! I turned around and booked it to Argenta to see the show! Go see this exhibit that is on view for the month of June.
The exhibition, titled “Wish You Were Here!,” captures “the emotional weight of yearning.” Each piece in her exhibit is “a meditation on memory, distance, and the deep desire to hold on to what cannot be held.”

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are the final days

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are the final days to see “Tight Lines”, a celebration of fishing in Arkansas, “The Wondermakers: Night Fever,” and the 2025 Hendrix College Senior Art Exhibition.
One of 8 featured artists in the “Tight Lines” exhibition is @anniehelmerickslouder Her collection of 14 fish-shaped sculptures are mounted on vintage wooden spools. These spools were once used in fiber mills for wool and cotton. The mills were powered by water wheels built near a river. And what swims in a river? Lively and colorful fish, of course!

Don't miss the opportunity to see "Matter," an art exhibition centered on the concept of material cultures in The Marshall T. Steel Center. Matter presents art that expresses how objects come alive with cultural and personal significance.

Exhibiting artists include: Molly Jo Burke, Caleb Cole, Fabiola Gironi, Jordan Korenich, Kathleen Thum, and Nathan Gorgen.

"Matter" was curated by Sydney Austen '25 in collaboration with the Windgate Museum of Art at Hendrix College. The exhibition is on view on both floors of the Steel Center in Ellis Hall through May 17, 2025.
